6 INJURED IN DAKALB COLLAPSE
6 Injured in DeKalb Collapse

DEKALB Co, GA -- Six people, including two toddlers, were injured Saturday when the deck they were grilling on collapsed and fell between 10 and 11 feet at a house just off Chandler Road in DeKalb County.

Several of the victims, including one of the toddlers, were burned by the contents of the grill. All six were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The essentially fell in a pancake-type motion, so everyone slid down the deck against the house so they were able to walk away, DeKalb County Fire Department Captain Eric Jackson said. Fortunately there wasn't a stack situation in which individuals are trapped underneath.

Investigators have not determined how or why the decked collapsed.
